How bad is the job market now? Singaporeans share their views
SINGAPORE: It is undoubtedly difficult to land a good paying full-time job in the current job market, especially in this economy. This has been the struggle of a netizen who posted his/her experience online, stating that he/she has been stuck with part-time work and is finding a hard time applying and getting into full-time roles.
On Reddit, the netizen admitted: “I'm kinda frustrated with anything right now. Tried applying for healthcare or even clinic assistant, but the results is still the same. Can't get thru. Send in 50 applications in a day, also no interviews.”
With this, he/she curiously asked if there are people who are experiencing the same struggle and would like to have a glimpse of how bad the job market is at this time.
This sparked a very interesting discussion among other netizens online, who shared their thoughts, opinions, and own experiences in the comments section.
One claimed that landing a full-time job depends on a lot of factors, including one’s industry, qualifications/experiences, the company’s criteria, and how people present themselves as they pass their resume and perform in interviews.
Another netizen admitted that the salary expectations also matter in landing a job, especially with what an individual can bring to the table.
“I think you can try to network a bit more, go to some job fairs etc just to get to know people,” one more netizen suggested.
For some, it is a big deal whether a person knows how to speak fluently in English.

“Hopefully your resume isn't full of typos like 'wander' --> 'wonder',” a netizen said.
However, this was debunked by another comment, stating: “Getting jobs and promotion is more about value and result based than having perfect English.”
This discussion highlighted that people worry that hard work alone may not be enough to land a full-time job. It is important to keep on trying, build valuable connections, and improve one’s skills to have a chance for better opportunities.
